Going Green ATL Style

When it seems like everything in the news these days seems more gloom than glam, get happy with knowing that Atlanta condos and surrounding new developments have made a sincere effort to be environmentally friendly. Atlanta condos are now, “going green”.

The very first LEED Silver certified mixed use condo development in the city of Atlanta has been achieved by Oakland Park located in the Historic Grant Park neighborhood on Memorial Drive. By reaching the LEED Silver certification, a third party has examined Oakland Park along with its design, construction, potential for energy efficiency, very little waste was going to the landfill, and that this new Atlanta condo development would deliver a high performance that will use less energy over time.

According to the Oakland Park website:

The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System is a feature oriented rating system where credits are earned for satisfying specified green building criteria. The purpose of LEED Design is to provide clear and concise construction standards to lessen our environmental footprint throughout the world.

Green sensitive construction not only provides a healthy, cost effective, comfortable
living environment but also increases the potential resale value of your home.

The push for green construction seems to be sweeping the country as many seek to treat the environment better and look for energy/cost-efficient solutions. The development of green Atlanta condos is a wonderful sign that Atlanta remains to be ahead of the game in new construction with an environmentally friendly mindset.
